Tomas Hirschfeld Award Winner 2013

ICNIRS is delighted to announce that the Tomas Hirschfeld Award winner for 2013 is Dr Daniel Cozzolino of the School of Agriculture, Food and Wine, University of Adelaide, Australia! Congratulations Daniel! A native of Uruguay, Daniel studied for his PhD under Dr Ian Murray, Aberdeen, UK, and then moved to Australia to pursue interests in wine research.

The Hirschfeld is the most prestigious award in the field of near infrared spectroscopy. It was inaugurated by the Technicon Corporation to mark their gratitude for the many contributions to NIR analysis made by the late Tomas Hirschfeld (coincidentally also a native of Uruguay!), who unfortunately died in 1986 at a relatively young age. Since 2004, the award has been sponsored by Büchi Labortechnik AG, Switzerland.

Daniel will be presented with his award at the upcoming ICNIRS conference being held from 2 to 7 June in France; he will give a lecture on this occasion which is currently scheduled for 5 June.
