PAT and Beyond

Process Analytical Technology (PAT) is becoming (if it has not already become) an essential part of pharmaceutical analysis but there are still few publications to help the novice to get started. Officially this is a Ph.D. thesis but it is much more than might be supposed from that description. During the Ph.D. project, the author worked at Novo Nordisk A/S in Denmark and studied at the University of Amsterdam in the BioSystems Data analysis group led by Professor Age Smilde. So the academic studies were amalgamated with practical work in the pharmaceutical industry. The main bulk of the text is divided into five chapters and a summary which introduce all the concepts needed to comprehend the introduction of PAT. This is augmented with five published papers produced during the study. The â€œBeyondâ€ in the title is intended to indicate that PAT has applications in many other areas and all analysts will need to have a basic idea of PAT. This book will provide it.
