Detectors

Forums:

I have a detector question.  We are looking at purchasing a new NIR instrument to eventually replace our very reliable NIRSystems 6500.  We need the visible region to measure the chlorophyll content in canola but we also measure oil, protein, moisture, glucosinolates and some fatty acids.  Some of the current instruments available have silicon and lead sulfide detectors while others have InGaAs detectors.  My question is which detectors are the most reliable?
Thanks,
Bert Siemens
