NIR spectroscopy success in the carpet recycling industry

ABSTRACT:
In the US a large amount of carpet is disposed of annualy, half of which by weight is pile. Carpet pile is recognised as a relatively pure source of recyclable resins and NIR has long been recommended as a method for identifying resins and this article discusses its success in the recycling industry.
