Design of experiments 1: Introduction

ABSTRACT:
This is the first in a series of columns on design of experiments (DoE). Most calibration exercises do not look like designed experiments, in the sense that we are usually not free to "design" our calibration samples. However, there are ideas in DoE that are useful to any investigator.
