ABSTRACT:
Advances in optical telecommunication have spurred the development of continuous-wave (cw) tuneable lasers in the near infrared (NIR) around 1.55 &mgr;m. This article looks at the advantages of using such devices as NIR sources and at applications in trace gas analysis by cavity ring down spectroscopy.
