Gas phase measurements

I noticed a lively discussion in the archive from 2010 about creating a real time analyzer for natural gas. The initiator at that time was Vilas Jangale. Where are we today according NIR and gas phase measurements? It's really hard to find publications. Was there any development of the gas analyzer in NIR, or is MIR the only optical alternative to GC? I have also read the chapter about "Near-Infrared Spectra of Gases" by Chris W. Brown in Handbook of Near-Infrared Analysis, 3ed. Is Chris still in "business? Any advice on literature or contacts are most welcome. Tom Lillhonga (Novia University)

Chris was at the University of Rhode Island (URI) and as far as I know, he still is. You should be able to get his contact information from the university website. Then you can ask him directly about whether he continued that work on gases, or if he'd done anything related
