Hello :
Always remember NIR and MID ( IR) work with chemical bonds. Any NIR or IR Instruments only see bonds, probably your samples have similar chemical composition, for that reason the samples are grouped together.
Is possible the soil are realy diferent, but if this diferences can not see by NIR o IR you always obtain samples grouped.

Dear all,
I have another basic quesion.
I used Ward's algorithm of clasuter analysis to calculate the Euclidean distance of soil Mid infrared spectra.
I found most of soil types grouped together. Except for soil properties, what's the other facors which affect the similarity/heterogeneity in cluster analysis should be considered.

Thanks
Best regards!

Hongtu
