Dear Jayliu;
Good . Any body working in NIRS should make-up the following concept clear .
1. Experimental or application oriented ?
2. What is object to use NIRS(multi- constituent/single)?
3. Any base paper published and what is reported in it ?
4. Review paper will give good idea
5. Then think of Detector other things ?
we are working in NIRS based Instrument (R&D) for paper ,plastics , Food & pharmaceutical Industries.
In earl days we started with PBS detector and with filter type system ( our own R&D) . we have faced problem in the field ( paper industry ) we solved it .Later we switched TE cooled detector with our own temperature controller for plastic industry . Now we are working with FOS with DAS for multi -constituents measurements . we got good result and success rate is high . we have our own software - tailor made to the user industry . So no need to have course .

To make things clear, the NIR spectrometer I am considering of course has an NIR detector, but the vendor selected accessories, each with an additional detector integrated within the accessory.

Dear Jay Liu,

I have worked with a fibre optic probe for solids and I do not need an integrating sphere. I work in IR zone close to 1100-2000 nm to minimize the influence of noise at higer wavelengths and I use PbS detectors.

Best regards

Jose

I need to choose a NIR vendor, and one suggested me a fiber optic probe (for reaction monitoring) and an integrating sphere (for powder/granule) both with their OWN NIR detector. Of course, this would be better because fiber optic also absorbs NIR a little, but I wonder this additional investment is necessary.
