I know that Impact Factor is important to many authors and so I am delighted to announce that JNIRSs impact factor has increased by 50% to 1.822 in the latest (2008) figures. I am not fully convinced that Impact Factor is the best judge of the quality of a journal, but it is at least one universally available metric. I still believe that JNIRSs greatest strengths lie in the quality of our Editors and Referees: in particular their NIR expertise and their willingness to help authors produce a high quality paper. Authors also often compliment us on the quality of the copy editing and typesetting, which is most gratifying and an important part of making the publishing process as pleasant as possible. We are seeing a very high proportion of authors opting to use our new online manuscript submission and review system at www.impublications.com/authors/. This offers authors a way to keep an eye on the progress of their paper and helps us speed the communication between referees and editors. Do give it a try if you havent already! |
