Hello Michael, This is Ralf Marbach at VTT in Finland. I am not sure what exactly you are after re. "optical probe heads," but chances are I know something you need to know. It was VTT who developed 5-axis CNC machining to the point where optical surfaces (free-form) can be machined directly into mechanical parts. Our history in on-line, non-contact, spectroscopic probes is long. If you like to chat, please contact me directly. Ralf +358 40 770 8375 (mobile) [email protected] |

I note in Gabor Kenney's interesting chapter (37) in the 3rd edition of the Handbook of NIR Analysis) that he refers to "optical heads", in general terms, as illumination sources for non-contact process analysis. This is an area of some major interest to me, and I wonder if there are some specifics anybody might know about concerning light sources and contained mirror(s) configurations/collectors that would be pertinent. Gabor gives good references and cites profusely, but on the specific subject of optical heads, I cannot find details. Thanks, Mike |
