Thank you Ian and Ingrid. I am writing to Dr. Hui now no request for the converter. I am so grateful to all of you there for your support and quick responses. Keep it strong. |

Posted on behalf of Fred McClure: Andrew, There is such a converter, which I thought was a part of OPUS. However, you may want to contact Dr. Hui Li ( [email protected] ) for confirmation of this fact. I do know there is a converter to text from OPUS, supplied by Bruker. Whether you have it or not may depend on the level of OPUS you qualify for. Fred Posted on behalf of Ingrid Mge Dear Andrew, With The Unscrambler version 9.7 you can import Opus files directly, without converting to JCAMP-DX first. I guess that will remove one of your steps, even if it is not exactly what you are looking for. |

Thanks Horward. Yes you are right indeed ultimately I can achieve what I want after a longer path! And as I said I was exploring whether there is a tool out there that is already available which can can reduce the number of steps am going through. |

I presume you've already done a general search of the I-net. Seems like you'll have to have it custom-made. Bruker is one possibility, of course, but it's unlikely that they'll want to spend the time needed to do that instead of developing a new product. Even if they were willing, they'd have to charge so much that the price would be completely unreasonable. If you have a definition of that file format, then any independent programmer could do it on a consulting basis, even myself. The price would still be pretty high. Since you can ultimately make the conversion you need, why is it so critical to do it in a single step? \o/ /_\ |

Thank you Howard and Kenneth. I am using the conversion Macro built in OPUS for converting OPUS to JCAMP-DX. I will then read JCAMP files into UNSCRAMBLER from where I export as ascii file. What am seeking for is a tool that can directly convert the OPUS files into ASCII. |

OPUS itself will save to JCAMP format. Look in the main manual and search on "jcamp" or "format." So will GRAMS file converter. |

Andrew - the first place to check would be with Bruker. Nowadays, many manufacturers have data exporting capability to alternate formats, often EXCEL or neutral, public-domain formats such as JCAMP-DX. From that it's relatively straightforward to convert to something else, especially a flat ASCII file. Howard \o/ /_\ |

I am working with spectra generated using bruker MPA instrument. I would like to build a database using the spectra which is in OPUS format by first converting into text file then create flat file tables. Is there anyone there who has developed a routine for converting OPUS files into text files? |
