Hi, follows, I just start a new project to study the stuucture of fibrils of peptides with NIR. Traditionaly, It can be monitored by FTIR. For example, 1655 cm-1 for a-helix, 1630 cm-1 for b-sheet, and 1678 cm-1 for b-turn. However, if the sample is dissolved in water, the water bending at about 1640cm-1 makes the determination very difficult without removing the water. We are thinking to use NIR to work on this problem. Now we need to know which wavenumber ( or wavelength) corresponds to a-helix, b-sheet and b-turn of peptide in NIR. We need some reference. Any suggestion is welcomed. |

Hi Heather, I have just run a search on the JNIRS database and found the following: NIR-99 p63 NIR-99 p9 NIR-95 p44 JNIRS 6, A253 (1998) [NIR-97] JNIRS 3, 73 (1995) NIR-9? are proceedings of the ICNIRS conference in 199? JNIRS is the Journal of Near Infrared Spectroscopy. See the NIR Publications website for details. Best wishes Tony |
