Hi Gil: Colour in grapes is related with total anthocyanins and phenolics. The FTIR instrument that you refer (I suposs the WineScan or GrapeScan) is a Mid infrared instrument. The Company Foss aim that it is possible for them to predict phenolics. We have some experience using VIS-NIR in other platfoms (i.g. diode array or NIRSystems 6500). The calibrations that we are developing are based on the use of Short Wavelengths (500 - 800 nm)(VIS and NIR). Regards | ||

I this region we had some success on predict total anthocyanins in red grape homogenates (SEP = 0.15 mg/g total anthocyanins). Less success with total phenolics in red grapes using those wv.
