I´m looking for some sources of literature about characterization and quantification of simethicone by FTIR. I´m starting a mastering course about this topic and that´s why I need such information. I found some papers at elsevier, but with such topic I didn´t find much material.

Thanks for help

Dear Luciano,

Polydimethylsiloxanes are wonderful to measure in the mid-infrared or Raman (1261 cm-1 for the methyl deformation of methyl groups on Si atoms); not so wonderful in the near-infrared, at least at low concentrations.

There are a multitude of references for dimethicone analyses by infrared from Dow Corning, who have published books on silicone analyses. For references relevant to measuring silicone on skin or hair, see the Internet Journal of Vibrational Spectroscopy, Vol. 3.

Ms. Kathlee Martin.

Besides the ijvs.com, would you know if is there any other site to look for the informations I need? I tried to acces the site ijvs.com, but the access is not permited. I tried from many machines, but even so it was not possible to get into that. Thaks for your help.
