I´m looking for some sources of literature about characterization and quantification of simethicone by FTIR. I´m starting a mastering course about this topic and that´s why I need such information. Dear Luciano, Polydimethylsiloxanes are wonderful to measure in the mid-infrared or Raman (1261 cm-1 for the methyl deformation of methyl groups on Si atoms); not so wonderful in the near-infrared, at least at low concentrations. There are a multitude of references for dimethicone analyses by infrared from Dow Corning, who have published books on silicone analyses. For references relevant to measuring silicone on skin or hair, see the Internet Journal of Vibrational Spectroscopy, Vol. 3. | ||
