Hi

I am looking for some refrences on how to determine breaking strength/hardness of whole tablets?

I guess the solution is a reflectance measurement, meaby using a large sample area i.e. spinning cup and then correlate to the shifts in baseline ??

Thank you for your comments

Hi Erik,

I have successfully done reflectance, static, not even full area coverage and the results are very good. Bear in mind, it was already shown that moisture has strong influence on hardness - thus, it was not surprising to find strong coefficients (while plotting the loading weights in PLS1 with Unscrambler from Camo) to the water bands.

Prof. Jim Drennen from Duquene University in Pittsburgh has done excellent work on that, you can go the the web site of the university and find his contact information, I am on travel, so I don't have immediate access to his conatct information. You can also send e-mail to Igor Nazarov at Brimrose who works quite closely with him, he has the information. Igor's e-mail is [email protected] just tell him that I gave you the e-mail.

Thanks,

Gabi Levin
