Lez - to follow up on Kathryn's message, don't forget the CNIRS (Council for Near Infrared Spectroscopy) - the US counterpart to the ICNIRS. It also sponsors the biannual IDRC (International Diffuse Reflectance Conference). You can access information at http://www.cnirs.org Also let's not forget that this very discussion group is a place to ask questions and talk to some of the best experts in the NIR community!! \o/ /_\ |

In the US, the local section meetings of the Society for Applied Spectroscopy are excellent places to connect with spectroscopists doing NIR. www.nysas.org lists the meetings for the New York (New Jersey) local section. The Eastern Analytical Symposium is an excellent meeting for NIR. |

Hello Lez Dix, The first answer is that there will be an ICNIRS conference in Sweden in June [www.nir2007.com/} You can find details of the best (a biased view) NIR periodicals from this [NIR Publications] website. If you are new to NIR you might need a consultant but we do not allow advertising from this Forum! Best wishes, Tony |

Hi Lez go to www.fieldspectroscopy.com, the blog for field radiometry and you'll get a lot of info concerning soil and vegetation. |

This question may seem strange in this forum as one answer is "This Forum". I was asked the question: "What clubs, organisation or meetings is the best place to talk to people who use NIR for R&D?" The question was specific to the UK but Europe and Woldwide may be of interest. And all areas of R&D from soil analysis to Biological modelling. Are there meetings, periodicals clubs? Where would one go for information if considering a project that NIR modelling may be a possible way forward? It's such an open question that I was tempted to answer 42. Any pointers greatly appreciated. |
