Dear Venkatraman
The identification of water core and the other cluster of properties is by playing with chemometrics and we have the data

I UNDER STOOD FROM THE AVIALABLE LITERATURE THAT NIR 700-1200 NM PLAYS A VITAL ROLE IN NDT OF WATER CORE CONTENT IN APPLE AS INTERNAL DEFECTS .Can any body suggest the approach and focus wave length ?

The primary reason for using the Herschel Region (700-1100 nm) for water core is that the "biological window" falls within this range. This means that most biotissue will transmit a lot of energy in this wavelength region. Since watercore is deep seated with a lot of water content, the NIR region 1100-2500 nm is not very useful.

Watercore has no unique absorption bands. However, there are color related transitions that carry over into this spectral region. Those transitions result in a change of slope of the spectrum, hence you can get a measurement of watercore.

Send me an email and I may be able to help you with the literature: [email protected].

Fred
