Hallo, I'm looking for applications and spectra measured in the NIR region 800 to 1100 nm. Is there some liturature about the theory of overtones and combinations in this region? Katrin |

Hi, I have a provisional acceptance of an article by Clinical and Laboratory Hematology. They are asking me for a figure with near-infrared absorption spectra (below 1100 nm) of oxygenated and deoxygenated hemoglobin, myoglobin, and cytochromes. Although I do have these spectra, I don't have a reference in a peer review journal or book for them. I would appreciate if anybody has knowledge of a publication that might have these figures. Thanks in advance. Bob Rosenthal |

Dear Bob, you may find the NIR spectra (500-1000nm) of haemoglobin and its oxygenated form on page 306 (Fig. 13.9 a) in the book:"Near Infrared Spectroscopy" (H. W. Siesler, Y. Ozaki, S. Kawata, H. M. Heise eds.) Wiley-VCH, Weinheim 2002 Kind regards. Heinz W. Siesler |

The UCL medical physics website has the spectra. Find them in the article at: http://www.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/research/borg/research/NIR_topics/nirs.htm |

Sorry for the last post; you wanted peer-reviewed examples!! Plenty of example exists.... I've grabbed a paper off the shelf with it: S.Shibata et al. Am J respir Crit Care Med Vol 160, 317-323 (1999) (Figure 3B) apologies for wasting bandwidth. |

Dear Bob, The spectra for all 4 forms of hemoglobin (600-2500 nm) are in the Journal of Near Infrared Spectroscopy 2,59-65 (1994). Sincerely, Karl Norris |
