I am using PCA analysis for thermal studies of peptides. I would like to know how to calculate the eigenvalues of first and second PCs. I am using Bio-Rad FTIR and the statistical analysis software is based on GRAMS 386.

Alka - the Principal Components are the eigenvectors that are the solution to the matrix equation:

h[psi] = E[psi]

Therefore the same software that calcu;ates the Principal Components simultaneously calculates the eigenvalues, it's just a matter of whether it presents those results to the user. So the bottom line of the answer is that if your current software doesn't give you what you want, you'll have to use a different software package: one that does give you what you need. Unless you want to reprogram the whole PC computation yourself.
