Tatjana - if you can contact me off the discussion group, I can put you in touch with a source for a certified wavelength standard that is relatively inexpensive: [email protected]

Tatjana,

We are currently transferring large data bases between different brands of spectrometers (dispersive, FT and DA). I suggest we could discuss that outside the forum. If you want help, email to [email protected]

Hello,

I would appreciate anybody's comment on the following topics:
1. I have to set up a suitable procedure for the instrument qualification (pharmaceuticals, FT-NIR spectrometer, integrated with Fiber Optics Reflectance Probe), which is used in the warehouse of incomming meterial for identificaton purpose. The instrument manufacturer PQ protocol does not follow the Pharmacopeia tests.
As I have been searching for suitabile (external certified) standards, I found only SRM 2036 from NIST, which is very expensive, I believe. What about USP Near-Infrared Calibrator RS? How to find it and where to order it? Is it posible to get only a mixture of dysprosium, holmium and erbium oxides (1+1+1 by mass) or other certified material, as prescribed in European Pharmacopoeia? What are other possibilities?
Further more I'm also interested in standard materials that are used for other listed tests in Ph Eur:
Verification of the wavelength repeatability
Verification of photometric linearity and response stability
Verification of photometric noise.
I wrote to European Pharmacopoeia, but I was told that EP does not provide these reference materials and they refer me to NIST. From USP I haven't got an answer yet.
On the other hand, I am wondering if it is really necessarily to perform all the tests mentioned above? Is is required to check photometric linearity also for the instrument which in used only for qualitative matters?
2. To end with another problem I have to deal with: I have some quatations for other spectrometer manufactorers, but no exeperience with another instrument. Regarding the above situation (The instrument manufacturer dismissed the NIR departement) I should consider buying a new equipment (sooner or latter), however I am not sure about the trasfer of our data, Many producers promise that this is possible. I expect the demonstration of it, of course. And also as USP says: In general, electronic model transfer is only recommended for another instrument of the same type and configuration.
On the other hand I could lose all the data which were collected during last 10 years, which is not acceptable for me at all. I read some of you have been already done such transfers of the data. Your exeprience would be very usefull for me.
I am looking forward to your answer. Tatjana
