Dear Ms Oatway, Assistant breeder for a french breeding company, I have started working recently on NIRS predictions for malt quality trait and I would be very interested if you could provide me some support. If you agree I will explain you my situation and the work I have already done so far. Regards Mathieu |

Hello all I'm looking for some information about malt analysis, measured on whole grain. Thanks! |

There is quite a lot of literature in the journals. I published something a while ago: Halsey, S.A. Rapid analysis of whole malt using NIR reflectance spectroscopy Journal of the Institute of Brewing, 1987, 93(5), 407-412. |

Hello, We have done a lot of work on developing equations for malt quality. I work for a large barley breeding program and we have been using NIR to determine malt characteristics on whole, unmalted barley. We have had success with Extract, DP, AA, malt b-glucan, turbidity, viscosity, soluble and total protein. All of our work has been done using research samples of pure genetic lines, and we are in the process of expanding our database to include more commercial samples. If you are interested, drop me a line Lori |
