How hardware and software together can surmount some challenges of NIR

This article is a shortened version of the lecture given by Ed Stark when he won his EAS Award for Achievements in NIR Spectroscopy in 2009. NIR spectroscopy requires exceptional spectral reproducibility to support calibration algorithms. For transferability of claibrations to succeed, multiple instruments must provide equivalent spectral data. This article discusses three examples of how synergistic combinations of instrument hardware and signal processing software help meet these needs.
