NIR spectrometers on the Moon

Recently NASA announced the discovery of significant amounts of water at the south pole of the Moon. Images showing the plume were obtained from both visible and IR cameras but the conclusive chemical evidence came from the Polychromix NIR spectrometers on boad the LCROSS instrument model. This article by the Vice President of Polychromix outlines the journey of the NIR spectrometer to the Moon.
