For screening sesame cultivars and lines with improved composition, a simple and rapid method is needed to direct breeding based on the composition of specific constituents. Genetic resources and cultivars, or lines, are very precious and therefore the demand for non-destructive micro-analysis, such as single seed analysis, is high in breeding and cultivation after the analyses and selections. In this report, the single seed analysis of sesame for estimating their composition by NIR spectroscopy is described.
