ABSTRACT:
A simple algorithm is presented for the determination of kinetic energy release distributions from metastable peak shapes. The corresponding IBM PC program takes into account instrumental effects (such as resolution) and can also be used to simulate metastable peak shapes from known kinetic energy release distributions. The program is fast, easy to use and easy to apply to various instrument geometries. The program determines kinetic energy release distribution automatically and can be used for narrow, for dish-topped and for “composite” peak shapes as well.
